Description of item |
The Highland Queen brand was created by McDonald & Muir in the Scottish port town of Leith in 1893, at the end of the 19th century, when the category of blended whiskey was born. The label logo depicts Queen Mary, Queen of Scots, landing on horseback when she returned to Scotland from the Queen of France. Queen Mary was such a symbolic figure for the Scots. Highland Queen continued to be MacDonald & Muir's main product, but in 2008 it was acquired by France's Maison Michel Piccard, and the base was leased to Tullibardine Distillery, which was already under its umbrella. Relocation. Since then, we have mainly used unblended sake from Tullibardine Distillery. |
