Laphroaig Distillery was founded in 1815.
Founder Dorald Johnston was born into a family of distinguished distillers and started distilling on the island of Islay with his younger brother.
Whiskey production at this time was the heyday of bootlegging.
This malt is said to be popular because of its sweet smoky flavor, reminiscent of a foggy island.
With the liquor tax reform in 1823, government-registered distilleries appeared in Highland.
Laphroaig has many fans around the world, including King Charles of England.
All of its manufacturing processes remain the same.
The malt man spreads the barley all over the floor, thinly on hot days and thickly on cold days, and silently turns it over every eight hours.
We also produce our own peat for drying.
We are the first malt distillery to receive Royal Warrant certification.
It features a scent reminiscent of medicine and iodine, and a strong smoky flavor.

A refreshing and pleasant aftertaste
The Quarter Cask was developed in the 19th century, inspired by the Otaru barrel, which was commonly used as a barrel for transporting horses.
By aging in smaller barrels than normal barrels, there is more surface contact between the barrel and the unprocessed sake, which speeds up the aging process.
The original sake is aged in traditional bourbon barrels, and the first-fill bourbon barrels are dismantled and replaced with quarter casks.
