Chichibu Distillery is a venture whiskey company founded by Ichiro Hito, the grandson of the founder of Hanyu Distillery.
Chichibu Distillery was established in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, approximately 100 km northwest of Tokyo.
The distillery was built on a small hill about 30 minutes by car from the city center.
For preparation, we use soft water from the Oketsu River Valley water system that contains natural minerals.
By making whiskey using traditional methods of making Scotch whisky, we are trying to establish the unique character created by Chichibu's climate.
Our current standard products include Double Distilleries, Wine Wood Reserve, and Mizunara Wood Reserve, which are made by combining unblended sake from Hanyu Distillery and unblended sake from Chichibu Distillery, as well as Chichibu The First 3 Year Old and Chichibu, which are available in limited quantities. Single malts such as The Floor Malted 3 Year Old and Chichibu The Peated are also starting to be released.
We use carefully selected malt and grain spirits in each barrel from among the matured spirits, each with their own unique characteristics.
Blended with malt whiskey from nine distilleries and grain whiskey from two additional distilleries.
In order to cherish the natural flavor, it is made with non-chill filters (no chill filtration) and no artificial colors.
This whiskey is made with a blend ratio that gives it a richer flavor when water is added, making it an excellent companion to highballs.
