Single cask for Japan
Alan 2014 Heavily Peated Sherry Hogshead
Arran 2014 Heavily Peated Sherry Hogshead is a 7-year aged second fill sherry hogshead using peated malt (phenol level 50ppm), and is single cask strength bottling. This is a product limited to the Japanese market.
The color is gold. When poured into a glass, ash and tar spread out along with heavy peat smoke, and you can feel golden syrup and nuts towards the back. When you put it in your mouth, it's oily and warm, and the thick peat smoke spreads throughout your mouth with the flavor and saltiness of bonito flakes. The sherry flavor is subdued, but as it comes into contact with the air, characters such as sultanas and bitter marmalade gradually emerge.
A single cask with a bold smokiness accompanied by umami and saltiness. Distilling of peated whiskey at Rockranza has already ended, so don't miss this opportunity.
Lochranza Distillery (formerly Arran Distillery) is a distillery owned by Isle of Arran Distillers and was established in 1995 in the village of Lochranza on the Isle of Arran in Scotland. It is known as a pioneer of the craft distilleries that have recently sprung up around the world, and carefully distills with four small stills (two pairs).
