The Balvenie Distillery is located on the same grounds as its sister distillery, Glenfiddich Distillery.
The Balvenie is the name of an old castle in Dufftown, and means ``village at the foot of the mountain'' in Gaelic.
The water source is from dozens of springs from the Conval Hills.
history
It was founded in 1892 by William Grant, the founder of Glenfiddich Distillery, as the second distillery, five years after Glenfiddich was founded.
Later, William Grant acquired the site of the new Balvenie Castle built at the foot of the mountain and used it as the site for the Balvenie Distillery.
Manufacturing method
Balvenie is carefully handcrafted by traditional craftsmen.
By drying the malt in-house, we can adjust the peat aroma and produce malt with a light peat aroma.
We are also proactive about using different barrels.
