Our company has been producing sake for approximately 170 years since Tenpo 13 (1842 AD). It seems that the 5th generation, Kinoshita Zenbei, started brewing sake using rice harvested from a rice field 30 towns away from the mountain water that gushes out from the mountain behind the company. Currently, the 11th generation, Yoshito Kinoshita, assumes the role of president.
The origin of the name Tamagawa is that there was a river called Kawakami Tanigawa right next to the storehouse, and it was a clear stream that looked like it was covered with gravel. At that time, there was a custom of treating rivers and lakes as sacred, and the river was named Tamagawa because it looked like a jade (very beautiful).
Since becoming the 11th generation brewer, we have worked together with Akio Nakai, the brewer who had been working at Kinoshita Sake Brewery since before I was born. With his industriousness, he continued to support Tamagawa's unchanging quality and made a great contribution. After the passing of Toji Nakai, who supported Kinoshita Sake Brewery for 48 years since he was 16 years old, Philip Harper, an Englishman, has been appointed as Toji since 2007.
Our mission is to make delicious sake using rice grown with great care by farmers. We hope that the customers who drink it will be happy that it is delicious, that there will be a smile on their faces, and that because it is an alcoholic beverage, they will be able to have a good time through the feeling of getting drunk.
With our motto of ``Creating delicious sake with all our heart'', we will work diligently and honestly to make sake to the delight of our customers who drink Tamagawa.
