Sakita is a kelp wholesaler located in Nishi-Maizuru Takeyamachi, which used to be the castle town of Tanabe Castle and a trading hub for the distribution of goods as a port of call for Kitamaebune ships.

It has been about 100 years since the founder, Matsuzo Sakita, started his business here at Maizuru Takeya, transporting kelp and other dried seafood from Hokkaido. These simple kelp rolls are hand-rolled one by one using traditional rushes, using kelp that has been carefully selected through generations of connoisseurs. By using two types of kelp, Kanmae kelp and Hidaka kelp (Mitsuishi kelp), we have created a soft texture.
